Our Experience
CAF Founder Diana Joseph believes that everyone needs to be more entrepreneurial – individuals and organizations alike. With a doctorate in the Learning Sciences, extensive experience in academia, non-profit and corporate contexts, Diana set out on her own entrepreneurship journey in 2017, drinking her own champagne – following a hybrid Lean Startup/Design Thinking curriculum she created with her team while working in the trenches as a corporate innovator at Citrix Systems, Inc.
According to this approach, Step One was to observe and interview, looking for a need that Diana was uniquely qualified to address within the vision of creating a more entrepreneurial world. One of Diana’s early interviewees was Amanda Cashin, the leader of Illumina’s now Global Accelerator.
Amanda arrived with her own curiosity – what had happened to the Citrix Startup Accelerator? Where had it gone? Was that a trend that could be coming for her?
Amanda’s curiosity revealed the need: Corporate innovators who work with startups need each other – to see the landscape from multiple vantage points, to test best practices, and to share the experience of simultaneously navigating two very different stakeholders, corporate and startup.
CAF started with a single meeting in 2017. From there, we’ve blossomed into a curated community of corporate open innovators, with multiple offerings grounded in the needs and expertise of this community.
